There were some changes to this year’s SCC Creative Writing Competition.
The biggest change was the stepping aside of previous coordinator Kathy O’Neill and Ailish Harkin, teacher in PCC Terenure, took over. Kathy has coordinated the competition very successfully for many years and it has always been a high point of the SCC calendar- she was also a great help to Ailish, in this new role.
This year‘s competition included a Junior Writers’ section. This allowed entries from all age groups within City of Dublin ETB Centres. The themes for this year were – for the Poets, the theme of Fate & for the Short Story writers, the theme of Destiny.
There was a good response to this year‘s competition, with multiple entries for each section. As always the entries are judged blind and it was great to see the winners came from a wide variety of Centres.
All teachers of winners were contacted with the certs & prizes posted out for presentation at end of year college ceremonies. Many congratulations to all winners and very well done to all entries – a great standard of creativity was very much on display.
A link the winning entries for the Over 18 categories have been included, which will hopefully inspire more entries next year
